July 6, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Fresno, CA - Left-hander Sean Nolin spun 7 1/3 innings of one-run baseball on Friday, and Ryan Court provided a home run and four RBI as the Tacoma Rainiers cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park.
Nolin (3-0) allowed just one hit through the first seven innings on a ground ball that shortstop Kristopher Negron mishandled. The southpaw held Fresno (45-43) scoreless until the eighth when he gave up a solo home run for the only Grizzlies run.
Friday was Nolin's fourth start for the Rainiers, going at least five innings and surrendering two or fewer runs each time out. Friday was the 29-year-old's third consecutive quality outing.
Darin Gillies relieved Nolin with one down in the eighth and retired all five hitters he faced with four strikeouts for the Rainiers (42-46).
The first baseman Court blasted a three-run home run in the second as part of a four RBI game, also adding a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
John Andreoli legged out his first triple, scoring Jaycob Brugman for a 4-0 Tacoma advantage in the third inning.
Ian Miller provided a sixth inning RBI single that plated Court for his second run, and Jake Fraley scored Chris Mariscal with a sacrifice fly.
Mariscal provided some seventh inning insurance by doubling in Andreoli for Tacoma's biggest lead of the game, 8-0.
The Rainiers and Fresno will play a Saturday doubleheader for the final two games before the All-Star break at Chukchansi Park. Game one starts at 5:05 p.m. PDT as right-hander Tyler Cloyd (1-8, 7.32) takes the bump, followed by righty Erik Swanson (0-0, 4.79) in the nightcap.
