Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City - DJ Peters belted a three-run home run as part of a five-run fourth inning for the Oklahoma City Dodgers in a 7-3 victory against the Round Rock Express Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Dodgers won a fourth straight game for their longest home winning streak of the season as they also took a 4-0 lead in their series against the Express.
But Round Rock scored first Saturday.
With two outs in the second inning, Chas McCormick reached base on an OKC throwing error and advanced to third base on a single by Nick Tanielu. Alex De Goti then connected on a RBI double to put the Express in a 1-0 lead.
Oklahoma City then held the Express scoreless over the next six innings as starting pitcher Rob Zastryzny (3-3) kept Round Rock to one unearned run and five hits over 6.0 innings. He did not issue a walk and recorded four strikeouts in the win.
The Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Jon Kemmer was hit by a pitch to lead off before Drew Jackson drew a walk. Both came around to score when Angelo Mora doubled to the wall in center field for a 2-1 Oklahoma City lead.
The Dodgers (38-50) added five more runs in the fourth inning.
The first three batters of the inning reached for the Dodgers, including a RBI single by Angelo Mora. Will Smith added a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead.
Peters followed and belted a towering three-run home run past the Dodgers bullpen in left-center field and onto the concourse in the fourth inning to extend OKC's lead to 7-1. The homer was Peters' third since joining the Dodgers last week as he homered in a second straight game. He also connected on a triple in the seventh inning.
The Express (51-38) were able to add two runs in the top of the ninth inning on a RBI double by Tanielu and RBI single by De Goti to cut the Dodgers' lead to 7-3.
Dodgers pitcher Casey Sadler allowed the two late runs, along with five hits over 3.0 innings with one walk and four strikeouts to earn the save in his first outing since joining Oklahoma City.
Round Rock starting pitcher Framber Valdez (1-1) was charged with the loss, allowing two runs and two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Oklahoma City seeks a series sweep when it wraps up its final series before the PCL All-Star break with a 1:05 p.m. game Sunday against the Express. Tomorrow is a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday featuring family-friendly activities, including pregame player autographs, inflatables and postgame kids run the bases.
Tickets are available through the OKC Dodgers ticket office located on South Mickey Mantle Drive, by phone at (405) 218-2182, or by visiting okcdodgers.com.
Live radio coverage of each game begins 15 minutes before first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com and through the free iHeartRadio or MiLB First Pitch apps.
