Today's Game: Two games remain in the 2026 regular season as the Pacific Coast League second half champion Oklahoma City Comets continue their road series against the El Paso Chihuahuas at 7:35 p.m. at Southwest University Park...The Comets lead the six-game series, 3-1, and have won three consecutive games.

Yesterday's Games: The Oklahoma City Comets secured two wins against the El Paso Chihuahuas Friday night at Southwest University Park, winning the resumption of a suspended game, 14-7, before winning the regularly scheduled game between the teams, 4-3, in seven innings. The evening started with the final five innings of a suspended game from Thursday after the teams played to a 5-5 tie through four innings. When the game resumed at the top of the fifth inning Friday, the Comets scored six runs over the sixth and seventh innings to take an 11-5 lead, including a RBI double by Hyeseong Kim, home run by Noah Miller and a two-run triple from Alek Thomas. After the Chihuahuas scored a run in the eighth inning, Matt Gorski smacked a three-run home run out to center field in the ninth inning to push OKC's run total to 14...The regularly scheduled game between the teams followed and the Chihuahuas scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. OKC tied the game by scoring a run on a Chihuahuas fielding error then took the lead on a wild pitch in the fifth inning. Gorski knocked a two-run double later in the inning for a 4-1 advantage for the Comets. El Paso scored two runs in the fifth inning to trim OKC's lead to one run, 4-3. With the bases loaded for El Paso in the seventh inning and one out, Garrett McDaniels notched a strikeout and a flyout to escape the jam.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Cole Irvin (12-7) is slated to make his team-leading 28th start of the season, surpassing Matt Perisho (1999) for a new Bricktown era single-season record...He received PCL Pitcher of the Week honors following a combined 9.2 scoreless frames during his two starts during the week of Sept. 7-13 against Sugar Land. In his last start Sept. 13, he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and four strikeouts in a no decision...Irvin has won a Triple-A leading 12 games, and he is one of four OKC pitchers during the Bricktown era with 12 or more wins in a season and first since 2010...Irvin leads the PCL in ERA (3.09) while ranking second in BAA (.263) and starts, and fourth in innings (134.0) and WHIP (1.43)...He has turned in 10 quality starts throughout the year...Irvin is attempting to become the third Oklahoma City pitcher to win an ERA title during the Bricktown era and first since Aaron Wilkerson in 2021. His ERA currently ranks as the lowest qualified mark in the PCL since 2016...He was signed by the Dodgers Feb. 3 as a minor league free agent and has previous MLB experience with Philadelphia (2019-20), Oakland (2021-22), Baltimore (2023-24) and Minnesota (2024).

Against the Chihuahuas: 2026: 11-5 2025: 10-8 All-time: 81-63 At ELP: 36-34

The Comets make their first and only trip to Southwest University Park this season for their third and final series against El Paso...Oklahoma City has won both second half series at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...Through the first 12 games of the season series, Hyeseong Kim racked up 17 hits and batted .447 to lead the way at the plate with five RBI. Alek Thomas homered three times in his first five games vs. El Paso...OKC most recently took four of seven games Aug. 25-30, winning each of the final three games by one run to kick-start a 14-game winning streak. That three-game stretch included two walk-off victories...OKC won last year's season series, 10-8, and OKC has only lost two season series since the Chihuahuas joined the PCL in 2014, last in 2022...The Comets last played in El Paso Aug. 5-10, 2025, collecting a series split as OKC won the final three games.

All Aboard the 'Ship: The Comets clinched the PCL second half title Wednesday and with three straight wins have improved to 47-26 during the second half, including a 35-11 record over the last 46 games and a 17-2 record over the last 19 games. By winning the second half, the Comets are headed to the PCL Championship Series where they will travel to take on first half champion Las Vegas in a best-of-three series Sept. 22-24 at Las Vegas Ballpark...This marks the fifth time Oklahoma City will advance to the postseason since the team's affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers began in 2015. OKC last went to playoffs in 2023 after winning the first half title and then went on to win OKC's first PCL championship during the Bricktown era. Overall, this will be OKC's fifth berth in the PCL Championship Series during the Bricktown era, joining 1999, 2008, 2016 and 2023...The Comets entered their Aug. 28 game against El Paso tied for fourth place in the second half standings and 4.0 games behind league-leading Sugar Land. The Comets then won 14 consecutive games to take over first place in the second half standings by 5.0 games. Going back further, after losing three straight games in Sugar Land Aug. 19-21, the Comets were 6.5 games behind the Space Cowboys. OKC has gone 20-5 since then...The Los Angeles Dodgers' minor league affiliates at all four full-season levels clinched playoff berths in 2026 as the Comets joined Double-A Tulsa, High-A Great Lakes and Single-A Ontario. The Dodgers clinched their 13th NL West title in the last 14 seasons Thursday.

Down the Stretch: OKC has won 18 of the last 21 games and is 20-5 over the last 25 games, which includes franchise-best 14-game winning streak during the Bricktown era Aug. 28-Sept. 12. It was the second-longest winning streak across the Minors in 2026 and was the longest in the PCL since Round Rock won 14 straight games in 2023...Starting July 29, OKC is 35-11 for the best record among all Triple-A teams and the most wins in the Minors during the stretch...The Comets are 6-0-1 over the last seven series and can clinch a win in their final regular-season series with a win today or Sunday...The Comets' 88 wins this season are the second-most by the team in a season during Oklahoma City's Bricktown era since 1998 and trail only the 2023 team's 90-58 record. In OKC's overall Triple-A history since 1962, the Comets' 88 wins this season are third-most behind the 1965 89ers (91-54) and the 2023 team...This is the sixth time in 11 seasons OKC has won at least 80 games during the team's affiliation with the Dodgers (since 2015) and fourth time in the last five seasons...With a win today or tomorrow, the Comets will clinch the best overall record in the PCL this season.

Welcome Matt: Matt Gorski racked up seven RBI over two games yesterday, going 4-for-9 with a home run and two doubles. He recorded five RBI in the first game, tying his career-high mark done twice previously and most recently May 21, 2024 with Triple-A Indianapolis at Iowa. The five-RBI performance was the 10th of the season for the Comets, but first since James Tibbs III had six RBI May 28 in Sugar Land...His 451-foot home run yesterday is the longest by a Comets hitter this season...Gorski has hit safely in four straight games, going 7-for-17 with three doubles, a homer and seven RBI.

Hard-Line: Zach Ehrhard tallied four hits over Friday's two games, including a 3-for-6 outing in the first game with two doubles. He extended his hitting streak to a season-best 10 games and is 18-for-40 (.450) with five extra-base hits and seven RBI during the stretch. It is the seventh double-digit hitting streak by a Comet this season...He also scored four runs over the two games Friday, upping his league-leading run total to 117 and adding to his Bricktown era single-season record...Ehrhard ranks second in the PCL with 153 hits this season, is fourth with 93 walks and fifth with 247 total bases and 51 extra-base hits (tied).

Unchained: The Comets scored 14 runs in the first game yesterday, reaching the mark for the third time this season and first time since May 17 in Albuquerque when they scored a season-high 20 runs. OKC also had 18 hits in the first game for the fifth time this season and first time since that same May 17 game in Albuquerque (20 H)...During the first game, all nine Comets hitters recorded at least one hit and seven players recorded multi-hit games...OKC has scored 35 runs over the first four games of the series in El Paso for the most runs scored so far this week in the PCL. Even with two games left, it's already the most runs the Comets have scored in a series since Aug. 4-9 at Salt Lake (58 R).

Fitz Blitz: Ryan Fitzgerald went 1-for-3 in the nightcap Friday has now hit safely in 19 of his last 22 games, going 29-for-85 (.341) with 14 XBH and 23 RBI. He leads the Minors with 168 hits this season, which is also the most by an OKC player in a single season during the Bricktown era.

Around the Horn: The Comets have won 11 of their last 12 road games and are 17-5 in the last 22 road games...Alek Thomas went 5-for-6 over Friday's two games with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored. Over the last three games he is 7-for-10...James Tibbs III is the first PCL player to cross the 100 RBI/100 R/100 BB barrier since Greg Brock of Albuquerque in 1982...Hyeseong Kim is on a season-best 16-game on-base streak. During the on-base streak he is 20-for-62 (.323).
