Today's Game: The Pacific Coast League second half champion Oklahoma City Comets continue their final series of the regular season on the road against the El Paso Chihuahuas with the resumption of Thursday's suspended game starting at 6:05 p.m. CT. Following the conclusion of the suspended game to nine innings, the regularly scheduled game will be a seven-inning contest...The six-game series is tied, 1-1, after the Comets clinched the league's second half title with a victory Wednesday afternoon.

Last Game: Thursday's game between the Oklahoma City Comets and El Paso Chihuahuas was suspended after four innings due to rain. The game was tied, 5-5, before play was halted. A delay of ‚¬â€¹43 minutes ensued before the game was officially suspended...On Wednesday, the Comets clinched the PCL second half title with a 12-0 victory over the Chihuahuas, led by 13 strikeouts across 7.2 scoreless innings from starting pitcher Jackson Ferris. Leading, 1-0, in the seventh inning, the Comets put together a six-run rally, collecting six hits and two walks to take a 7-0 lead. The Comets added five more runs in the eighth inning, capped by a three-run blast from Chris Newell. The Chihuahuas finished with two hits, matching the fewest allowed in a game by the Comets this season.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Christian Romero (10-5) makes his fourth start of September and 30th appearance overall in tonight's regularly scheduled game...Romero last started Sept. 12 vs. Sugar Land in OKC, recording his 10th win of the season, allowing two runs and three hits over 5.0 IP with two walks, one hit batter and seven strikeouts. His seven K's matched his season-high mark...Romero joined Cole Irvin as the first OKC teammates with double-digit wins in the same season since Justin Masterson and Wilmer Font in 2017 and first teammates to do so in the PCL overall since Salt Lake's Jake Kalish and César Valdez in 2022...Among qualified PCL pitchers, Romero is second in ERA (4.07) and tied for second in wins and strikeouts (109), third in WHIP (1.41) and BAA (.268) and fifth in IP (130.1)...The Dodgers signed Romero as a free agent Jan. 15, 2021 out of Mexico.

The Comets make their first and only trip to Southwest University Park this season for their third and final series against El Paso...Oklahoma City has won both second half series at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...Through the first 12 games of the season series, Hyeseong Kim racked up 17 hits and batted .447 to lead the way at the plate with five RBI. Alek Thomas homered three times in his first five games vs. El Paso...OKC most recently took four of seven games Aug. 25-30, winning each of the final three games by one run to kick-start a 14-game winning streak. That three-game stretch included two walk-off victories...OKC won last year's season series, 10-8, and OKC has only lost two season series since the Chihuahuas joined the PCL in 2014, last in 2022...The Comets last played in El Paso Aug. 5-10, 2025, collecting a series split as OKC won the final three games.

All Aboard the 'Ship: The Comets clinched the PCL second half title with Wednesday's win as they improved to 45-26 during the second half, including a 33-11 record over the last 44 games and a 15-2 record over the last 17 games. By winning the second half, the Comets are headed to the PCL Championship Series where they will travel to take on first half champion Las Vegas in a best-of-three series Sept. 22-24 at Las Vegas Ballpark...This marks the fifth time Oklahoma City will advance to the postseason since the team's affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers began in 2015. OKC last went to playoffs in 2023 after winning the first half title and then went on to win OKC's first PCL championship during the Bricktown era. Overall, this will be OKC's fifth berth in the PCL Championship Series during the Bricktown era, joining 1999, 2008, 2016 and 2023...The Comets entered their Aug. 28 game against El Paso tied for fourth place in the second half standings and 4.0 games behind league-leading Sugar Land. The Comets then won 14 consecutive games to take over first place in the second half standings by 5.0 games. Going back further, after losing three straight games in Sugar Land Aug. 19-21, the Comets were 6.5 games behind the Space Cowboys. OKC has gone 18-5 since then...The Los Angeles Dodgers' minor league affiliates at all four full-season levels clinched playoff berths in 2026 as the Comets joined Double-A Tulsa, High-A Great Lakes and Single-A Ontario. Yesterday afternoon the Dodgers clinched their 13th NL West title in the last 14 seasons.

Down the Stretch: The Comets are 1-2 following a franchise-best 14-game winning streak during the Bricktown era Aug. 28-Sept. 12. It stands as the second-longest winning streak across the Minors in 2026...The team's previous record was 12 consecutive wins set in 2013, and the 14-game winning streak was the longest in the PCL since Round Rock won 14 straight games in 2023...OKC has won 16 of the last 19 games and is 18-5 over the last 23 games...Starting July 29, OKC is 33-11 for the best record among all Triple-A teams and the most wins in the Minors during the stretch...The Comets are 6-0-1 over the last seven series...This is the sixth time in 11 seasons OKC has won at least 80 games during the team's affiliation with the Dodgers (since 2015) and fourth time in the last five seasons. OKC has 86 wins this season, reaching the milestone for the third time since 1998 and first time since recording a Bricktown-era record 90 victories in 2023 (90-58)...The Comets are tied with the 2015 squad for the second-most wins during the Bricktown era.

Weather or Not: Although not a traditional doubleheader, today marks the second time this season the Comets will play more than one game in the same day and second time against El Paso. The teams had a July 11 game postponed due to rain and made up as part of a doubleheader Aug. 26 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, which they split...Last night marked OKC's first suspended game since June 4, 2024 against Round Rock in OKC, which was halted after the first inning and completed the next day.

Hard-Line: Zach Ehrhard doubled and scored a run in yesterday's suspended game to extend his hitting streak to a season-best nine games. During the streak, Ehrhard is 15-for-33 (.455) with four extra-base hits and nine runs scored. He is up to a league-leading 114 runs scored this season, which has set a new single-season Bricktown era record. This is the third straight season a new OKC record for runs scored in a season has been set, with Drew Avans crossing the plate 105 times in 2024 and Ryan Ward tallying 113 runs last season...Ehrhard ranks second in the PCL with 150 hits this season and is fourth with 93 walks.

Fitz Blitz: Ryan Fitzgerald went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a RBI, walk and three runs scored Wednesday. He tallied his 100th RBI of the year, joining teammate James Tibbs III in triple digits. This is the first time in Oklahoma City's Bricktown era multiple players have collected at least 100 RBI and the first time two players on the same PCL team have done it since 2019...He set OKC's Bricktown-era single-season record for hits Tuesday and upped his Minors-leading hit total to 167 Wednesday - the second-most hits by a PCL player in a season since 2018. He now also leads the league with 34 doubles...He has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games, going 28-for-82 (.341) with 14 XBH and 23 RBI.

Zero Hour: The Comets recorded their 13th shutout victory of the season and 10th of the second half Wednesday. OKC's 13 shutouts in 2026 are most in the PCL since San Antonio collected 14 during the 2019 season. Per Baseball Reference and Stats Crew, this is the most shutouts in a season by an Oklahoma City team since 1964 (17)...OKC now has eight shutouts in the last 40 games and seven shutouts in the last 32 games. During that 32-game stretch starting Aug. 12, the Comets have allowed one or no runs 11 times.

Unchained: The Comets scored five runs on seven hits through four innings Thursday before the game was suspended. That followed Wednesday's offensive output during which they tallied 12 runs and 14 hits, marking their most runs in a game since Aug. 8 at Salt Lake and most hits in a game since Aug. 11 vs. Albuquerque...Leading into Wednesday's seventh inning, the Comets had been held to six runs over the previous 29 innings and had been held scoreless in 29 of the previous 33 innings. OKC then broke out with 11 runs and nine hits between the seventh and eighth innings...The Comets went 7-for-15 with RISP Wednesday after going 5-for-28 over the previous four games combined.

Around the Horn: The Comets have won nine of their last 10 road games and are 15-5 in the last 20 road games...Chris Newell knocked a RBI single Thursday and has now driven in a run in each of the last three games. During that span, he's 4-for-9 with two homers and six RBI...James Tibbs III is the first PCL player to cross the 100 RBI/100 R/100 BB barrier since Greg Brock of Albuquerque in 1982...Before yesterday's game was suspended, Austin Gauthier hit his first home run since July 19 at Tacoma.
