South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingray and Head Coach/General Manager Jared Bednar announced today that goaltender Michal Neuvirth has been reassigned by the Washington Capitals from the Stingrays to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
This marks Neuvirth's second call-up to the Bears this season. In his prior trip to Hershey, the Usti Labem, Czech Republic native went 1-2-0 with a 4.67 goals-against average and a .839 save percentage.
This season with the Rays, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound netminder is 6-7-0 with a 2.86 goals-against average, good for 8th in the ECHL, and a .918 save percentage.
Originally, Neuvirth was Washington's 2nd round selection (34th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played in one game for Washington during the preseason, allowing two goals in the Capitals' 5-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 25 at Verizon Center. He previously saw NHL preseason action in a 4-3 overtime loss to Carolina on Sept. 16, 2007, at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
