Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, have announced that forwards Aaron Clarke, Jordan Morrison and Shane Willis have been called up to American Hockey League (AHL) teams.

With these most recent call-ups, six Nailers have seen action with AHL teams this season.

Clarke, making his second career AHL appearance, has been loaned to the Providence Bruins.

Clarke was called up to Binghamton, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 26. In his time with Binghamton, Clarke scored one goal in four games. Clarke has scored 31 points with the Nailers this season, the third best points total on the team. He has scored nine goals with 22 assists and has a plus/minus of +3. Clarke's 22 assists were third best in the ECHL when he was called up to Binghamton on Dec. 26. Binghamton returned Clarke to the Nailers on Jan. 14. However, his return lasted just one game before being loaned to Providence.

A seventh round 2004 NHL Entry Draft selection of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Morrison, 22, who leads the ECHL with 52 points (16 G, 36 A), has been recalled to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. It will be Morrison's first action with an AHL team, and he will be in uniform tonight when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins take on the Binghamton Senators at 7:05 p.m. A 6-0, 170-pound rookie from Uxbridge, Ontario, Morrison was signed as a free agent by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Oct. 1, 2008.

Willis, a former NHL 20-goal scorer with the Carolina Hurricanes, who has extensive NHL and AHL experience, has been loaned to Springfield. Willis played in just one game with the Nailers before being loaned to Springfield.

In addition to the loans, the Wheeling Nailers have also signed goalie Jordan Alford, who spent some time with the Nailers in December but did not see any game action. Alford played seven games with the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League (IHL) this season, posting an overall record of 2-3-1.

The Nailers travel to Reading tonight for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Royals. The Nailers host the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena tomorrow at 7:35 p.m. Tickets for tomorrow's game can be purchased by calling 304-234-GOAL or log on to wheelingnailers.com.
