Jackals Powerplay Stuns Chiefs, 3-2

Johnstown, PA- The Elmira Jackals picked up their second straight win tonight with a 3-2 descision over the Johnstown Chiefs at the War Memorial. The Jackals powerplay struck for all three goals, including two from ECHL All-Star selection Josh Aspenlind.

The Jackals powerplay opened the scoring at the 8:48 mark of the first. In his first game back from his first American Hockey League call up, Josh Aspenlind netted his 13th of the year with the assist going to Moises Gutierrez. The Chiefs struck back at the 14:21 mark when Jarrett Konkle fired home is 20th of the season.

Johnstown picked up their first lead of the game at at the 0:33 mark of the second when Konkle netted his second of the night. The Jackals trailed 2-1 heading into third while outhshooting the Chiefs 15-14.

Elmira played a sound third period netting two powerplay goals, the first came at the 10:39 mark. Chris Korchinski tipped a Brandon Roach slap shot to tie the game at 2-2. The second powerplay goal of the third period, third of the game was scored at the 15:09 mark. Nathan Lutz and Wes Cunningham set up Josh Aspenlind who fired home the game winner from the center slot. Mitch O'Keefe turned aside 15 shots in the win.

With the win the Jackals improve to 19-16-1-3 while the Chiefs fall to 22-14-2-0.
