Nailers, WOVK Present Teddy Bear Toss 2014
December 3, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced the return of one of their most popular charitable promotions: The 98.7 Country WOVK presents Teddy Bear Toss 2014.
On Saturday, December 6th, when the Nailers host the Utah Grizzlies at 7:35, fans are asked to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to the game. When the Nailers score their first goal that evening, fans will then throw the stuffed animals onto the ice in celebration. The stuffed animals will be collected and then donated as part of the team's Toys for Tots Drive.
"WOVK is proud to be part of such a great event this year. We look forward to helping set a record for the most teddy bears tossed on the ice on December 6th. Let's help make this a great holiday season for everyone here in the Ohio Valley," said a spokesperson from 98.7 Country WOVK.
If fans are unable to attend the December 6th game, or they would still like to donate more stuffed animals after the game, the Nailers will have toy bins in the front lobby of WesBanco Arena up until December 20th. Once all of the stuffed animals are collected, they will be donated to local area children, so that they may have a wonderful holiday.
"We are joyful to partner with 98.7 Country WOVK, hosting the annual Teddy Bear Toss," said Nailers Vice President Craig Bommer. "The sight of all of the stuffed animals raining onto the ice brings a warm feeling to our hearts, knowing that we are making a difference for those in need in our community. Our goal is to gather at least 2,000 stuffed animals," he said.
Wheeling and Utah will play a pair of games this weekend at WesBanco Arena on Friday and Saturday, with both games beginning at 7:35.
The Friday, December 5th game will feature a Frosty & Flat Screen Friday, courtesy of the Highlands and the Law Firm of Bordas & Bordas. Fans will also receive a free Riley Brace Poster, while supplies last, courtesy of Rich and Shirley's Quick Print of Wheeling. The start time is 7:35 for the first ever game between the Nailers and the Utah Grizzlies.
The Saturday, December 6th battle will be the third game in the "Big Six" Promotional Giveaway Series, as Patrick McGrath Bobblefists will be distributed to the first 2,500 fans in attendance courtesy of Main Street Bank. The annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by WOVK, will also take place, as fans are asked to bring a new or gently used teddy bear, to throw onto the ice after the Nailers score their first goal. McDonald's Friends & Family tickets will also be available for $39.99, consisting of four tickets, four hats, and four McDonald's Value Meal coupons.
