Collberg Coming to Central Valley

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have been loaned forward Sebastian Collberg from the Islanders.

Collberg, 20, is a Swedish forward who has played 10 AHL games this season with the Sound Tigers. The Mariestad, Sweden native scored a goal in his second game with Bridgeport and added an assist in his third game this season.

Prior to the 2014-15 season, Collberg played both junior and pro hockey for Frolunda in his native country of Sweden and played in 2 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL in 2012-13.

The former 2012 second round pick by the Montreal Canadiens has played a total of 121 pro games in the Swedish Hockey League, all with Frolunda, scoring a total of 9 goals and 9 assists.

Collgerg has played marvelous for his country's junior team, recording 9 goals and 10 assists in 19 career games in the World Junior Championships while also coming away with the WJC gold medal in 2011-12 and silver medals in both 2012-13 and 2013-14.

The 5'11", 181 lb. forward was involved in one of the most talked about NHL trades of 2013-14 as he was acquired by the Islanders along with a draft pick for Thomas Vanek. The Isles would eventually trade that draft pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning to get back in the first round and select another junior standout, Joshua Ho-Sang 28th overall.
