
IceMen Fall to Fuel 5-3

INDIANAPOLIS- In the last game of their four game road trip, the Evansville IceMen fell to the Indy Fuel by a score of 5-3 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. With the loss, the IceMen record evens up at 8-8-1-1 (18 points) as the IceMen remain in fourth place in the North Divison. Myles Bell led the IceMen with a goal and two assists.
Midway through the first period, the Fuel got on the scoreboard. On a power play, Patrick Cullen put in a shot from the high slot to give Indy a 1-0 lead. Garrett Bembridge and Nick Bruneteau picked up the assists on the play. Bembridge would finish the night with four points.
With under two minutes to play in the first, Bembridge scored on a backhanded wrister to make it a two-goal Fuel lead. Dean Chelios and Matt White helped set up Bembridge's sixth goal of the year.
In the final minute of the first period, the IceMen found themselves on a power play. Bell sent the puck to Andre Bouvet-Morrissette who found Brandon Wong on a centering pass. Wong slammed it home from just outside the crease to cut the Fuel lead to 2-1 after the first period.
Robert Czarnik added to the Fuel lead in the second period. Bembridge centered the puck to Czarnik who scored on a shot from the slot to make it a 3-1 Indy advantage.
Evansville fought back midway through the second period. A slap shot from Tom Hartnett was stopped by Cody Reichard, but the puck died in the crease. Bell beat Reichard to the puck and banged in his team leading eighth of the season. Zach Currie added an assist and Hartnett notched his first professional point on the play.
Later in the second, Kirill Gotovets carried the puck behind the IceMen net. Gotovets puck the picked free from the wall right to Czarnik in front of the net. Czarnik netted his second the night to give the Fuel a 4-2 lead going into the second intermission.
Early in the third period, Morrissette deflected a blast from Bell past Reichard into the back of the net. Morrissette's sixth of the season brought the IceMen back within one.
Indy picked up an insurance goal in the third as Bembridge found Adam McKenzie charging towards the net. McKenzie potted the goal to secure a 5-3 win for Indy.
Chris Driedger made 22 saves for the IceMen as his three game win streak ended. Driedger fell to 5-6-0-1 on the season.
The IceMen will return to home ice on Friday, Dec. 5 to face-off against the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time this season. It will be Mascot Night at the Ford Center so drop by and watch area mascots take the ice in a game of broom ball. Plus season ticket holders will get to enjoy a post-game skate.
