
Melindy, O'Donoghue Ship out for Portland

DULUTH, Ga. - The Portland Pirates, AHL affiliate of the Gladiators, announced that they have recalled forward Dan O'Donoghue and defenseman James Melindy on Wednesday . Since the season began over a month ago, the Gladiators have had seven players head to the AHL, with O'Donoghue making the jump twice.
O'Donoghue, 23, will make the trip up to Portland for the second time this season. The Port Jefferson, New York native played in the Gladiators' season debut on October 18, and in four more games since his re-assignment on November 24th. In five games with Gwinnett, O'Donoghue registered a goal and an assist. He has already played in seven games for the Pirates, dating back to last season.
Melindy, 20, also played in four games for the Gwinnett defense since November 24th. In those games, the Arizona Coyotes prospect picked up two penalty minutes and a +2 rating. The native of St. John's, Newfoundland has played in nine games with Portland this year and 40 more since 2013.
The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league, and are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth - where parking is always free.
