Wednesday, January 15 Wheeling 1 @ Richmond 5
The Nailers and the Renegades played for the second time this season with Richmond having won the first game 6-0 at Wheeling on December 28. Lars Pettersen gave the Renegades a 1-0 lead at 13:06 of the first period with Nick Lent and Brad Church assisting. Richmond extended their lead to 2-0 at 15:35 of the opening period. Lent scored the goal with Jon Zion and Pettersen assisting. In the second period the Renegades scored once more to increase their lead to 3-0 after two periods of play. Ian Turner scored the goal from Leon Hayward. At 1:53 of the third period the Renegades took a 4-0 lead on an Alex Matieroukine goal. Richard Pitirri and Ryan Van Buskirk assisted on the goal. Bobby Russell scored the only goal for the Nailers at 11:43 of the third period to make it a 4-1 game. The goal was an unassisted, shorthanded goal. David Brosseau ended the scoring with a power play goal at 12:16. Pitirri and Kerry Ellis-Toddington assisted on the score. Tyler MacKay made 33 saves on 38 shots in the loss.
Friday, January 17 Reading 6 @ Wheeling 3
The Nailers entered this game winless against the Royals in the first four games this season, 0-3-1. Reading opened the scoring with a power play goal at 4:05 of the first period. Remi Royer scored the goal with Ray DiLauro and Geoff Peters assisting. Brian McCullough scored his first goal of the game at 5:13 of the first period to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. Brandon Dietrich and Colin Pepperall assisted on the goal. At 2:22 of the second period the Nailers got to within one goal at 2-1 on a Bobby Russell shorthanded goal from Zenon Konopka and Ryan Gillis. McCullough scored his second goal of the game, a power play goal, at 5:35 from Simon Tremblay and Dietrich. Royer scored his second goal of the game at 11:13 from Jeff Giuliano to give the Royals a 4-1 lead. Reading took a 5-1 lead at 14:41 when McCullough completed his hat trick. Steve Rymsha assisted on the score. Chris McNamara scored the Nailers second goal of the game at 15:16 from Mark Major and Matt Smith. Brad Rooney scored the final goal of the game for the Royals at 17:14 of the second period to give Reading a 6-2 lead. McCullough picked up his fourth point of the game with an assist. Steve Crampton scored the final goal of the game at 19:28 of the second period with Major and Mario Larocque assisting. Tyler MacKay made 28 saves on 34 shots in the loss.
Sunday, January 18 Dayton 0 @ Wheeling 3
The Nailers ended their weekend with their third shutout of an opponent this season. Tyler MacKay picked up his first shutout of the season as a Nailer by making 34 saves on 34 shots. Zenon Konopka scored the only goal in the first period to give the Nailers a 1-0 lead. Steve Crampton and Bobby Russell assisted on the score. At 6:54 of the second period the Nailers took a 2-0 lead on a Mario Larocque goal from Michel Ouellet and Chris McNamara. Russell ended the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:34 of the final period from Crampton. The win ended a Nailers three game-losing streak.

Monday, January 20 ECHL All-Star Skills Competition 7:30p.m.
The 2003 ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Florida will have its Skills Competition for the players playing in the game. The Nailers have forwards Zenon Konopka and Chris McNamara as representatives for the game. Konopka will compete in the puck control relay, rapid fire competition and the breakaway relay. McNamara will compete in fastest skater and breakaway relay. Last year the Southern Conference beat the Northern Conference 16-8.
Tuesday, January 21 ECHL All-Star Game 7:35p.m.
The Southern Conference beat the Northern Conference 7-6 in the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game in Trenton, NJ. This year the game is in Estero, FL, home of the ECHL's Florida Everblades.
Friday, January 24 Wheeling @ Cincinnati 7:05p.m.
The Nailers resume their post all-star game schedule in Cincinnati. The Nailers are 3-2-0 against the Cyclones this season, including 1-1-0 in Cincinnati.
Player of the Week
The Nailers Player of the Week is Bobby Russell. Russell had three goals, two shorthanded, and one assist for four points in three games. He also played at a +2 in the +/- category.
Goaltender of the Week
The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Tyler MacKay. MacKay went 1-2-0 in three games during the week. He recorded his first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Dayton on Saturday night. MacKay faced 106 shots in the three games he played and made 95 saves. He had a goals against average of 3.67 and a save percentage of .896.
