LAST WEEK: After seeing their six-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday against Columbia, the Pride rebounded with three straight wins over the weekend to run their record to 26-12-5 for 57 points. Pee Dee is in first place in the Southeast Division, four points ahead of Columbia. In addition, the Pride have a one-point lead over both Mississippi and Louisiana for the best record in the Southern Conference.

Tuesday, January 14 v. Columbia Inferno 2 PRIDE 1

Pee Dee's six-game winning streak came to end at the hands of Columbia. Mike Glumac gave the Pride and early lead with a power-play tally at the 8:33 mark of the opening period. Columbia tied it on a power-play goal of their own by Barrie Moore at 18:25. In the second period, Moore again netted a power-play marker to set the final. Patrick Couture was solid in net for the Inferno, turning aside 27 Pride shots.

Friday, January 17 v. Columbus PRIDE 3 Cottonmouths 1

The Pride returned to their winning ways, defeating Columbus in the front end of a home-and-home series. A first period goal by Wes Goldie, and second-period tallies by Mike Glumac and Preston Mizzi gave the Pride a 3-0 lead. Phil Cole ended Ron Vogel's shutout bid with a goal 5:11 into the final period. Vogel made 23 saves in the win.

Saturday, January 18 @ Columbus PRIDE 3 Cottonmouths 0

Pee Dee won for the first-time ever at the Columbus Civic Center, and Ron Vogel recorded his second shutout of the season. After a scoreless first period, Gregor Krajnc put the Pride on the board with a shorthanded tally 7:04 into the second period. Just 25 seconds into the third period, Mike Glumac doubled the lead with his 24th of the season, and Preston Mizzi provided some extra insurance with a power-play goal at 7:54. Vogel only needed to make 15 stops for the whitewashing.

Sunday, January 19 v. Charlotte PRIDE 5 Checkers 3

B. J. Adams gave the Pride the early lead midway through the opening period, but Charlotte tied it on a Kevin Caulfield goal in the final minute of the period. Twice in the second period, the Checkers held one-goal leads, but both times the Pride tied it, first on a Gregor Krajnc goal, and then on a Greg Schmidt marker. Just 1:06 after Schmidt tied it, Matt Reid notched the game winner on a rebound in front. Preston Mizzi's third goal in as many games iced it for the Pride in the third period. Ron Vogel was once again strong in net, turning aside 27 shots for his 15th win of the season.

Pee Dee opens up a seven-game road trip with a pair of games at Sovereign Bank Arena against the Trenton Titans. The Pride beat the Titans 4-1 in Florence on January 11, and are 3-1-1 all time against the Titans. Trenton is 19-16-7 for 45 points, and is tied for Richmond for fifth place in the Northeast Division. They enter this week on a three-game losing streak.

Two of the top four teams in the ECHL meet for the first-time ever Sunday at Boardwalk Hall. Atlantic City is in its second season in the ECHL after moving to New Jersey from Birmingham after the 2000-01 season. The Boardwalk Bullies have won three straight and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. For the season, they are 25-8-9 for 59 points and in first place of the Northeast Division. Their 59 points are the second most in the league, just one behind Toledo, and three more than the Pride.

STREAKING RIGHT ALONG

Rookie All-Star Mike Glumac saw his four-game goal streak come to an end Sunday against Charlotte, but he did notch two assists in the win over the Checkers to run his point-streak to nine games, a Pride season high. Glumac has six goals and five assists for 11 points during the streak. Preston Mizzi also enters this week on a streak. Mizzi has one goal in each of the Pride's last three games.

HOME COOKING

Pee Dee ended its stretch of eight of their last 10 games at home with a sparking 9-1-0 mark overall, and 7-1-0 at home. For the season, the Pride's 17 wins on home ice are tied with Jackson for the most in the league. Pee Dee has outscored their opposition 94-56 at the Florence Civic Center this season.

DEFENSIVE NUMBERS AMONG LEAGUE'S BEST

Sunday against Charlotte was the first time a span of 12 games that the Pride allowed 30 or more shots in a game. Pee Dee has moved into the top spot for fewest shots against per game, allowing an average of 28.81 shots against per game. The Pride have not allowed more than three goals in a game in any of the last 12 outings. Over that span they have given up just 23 goals, an average of 1.92 per game. For the season, they are third in the league, allowing an average of 2.77.
