1/17/03- BOMBERS 4 @ Toledo 3 (OT)
Fred Slukynsky's rebound goal lifted the Dayton Bombers to their third straight overtime triumph 4-3 over the Toledo Storm. Chris M. Thompson moved the puck into the Toledo zone on the left wing and fed the puck to the trailer, defenseman Chris B. Thompson. Chris B. Thompson's shot was blocked, but Slukynsky gathered the puck and roofed it over fallen Toledo goalie Doug Teskey to give the Bombers the win with just 21 seconds remaining in the overtime session. The Bombers had the lead three different times during regulation. Brian Cummings put the Bombers ahead 1-0 at 5:19 of the first period with his fourth goal of the season. Center Jamie Ling intercepted a clearing attempt along the near wing and fed the puck to the middle for Cummings, who deked Toledo goaltender Doug Teskey. The Storm responded at 17:45 of the first on Darryl Bootland's rebound tally. After a scoreless second period, the Bombers pulled ahead twice in third. Chris M. Thompson's slap shot, power play goal from the right circle put the Bombers in front 2-1 at the 51 second mark, but Jeff Johnstone slipped a loose puck across the Bombers' goal line at 7:02 to tie the score at two. On a three-on-two in the Toledo zone, Jason Deskins set up Torrey DiRoberto for a slap shot goal through the legs of Teskey to give the Bombers a 3-2 edge at 16:23, but Alexander Jacques netted the tying score with just 11 seconds left in regulation. The score came with Toledo's goalie pulled for an extra attacker.
1/18/03- BOMBERS 0 @ Wheeling 3
Tyler MacKay made 34 saves as the Wheeling Nailers snapped the Dayton Bombers' three-game winning streak with a 3-0 win at the Wheeling Civic Center. Zenon Kenopka put Wheeling in front 1-0 on an even-strength goal 2:16 into the first period with a close-in shot sent past Bombers' goalie Shane Bendera. The Bombers outshot the Nailers 13-10 in the first period and even hit two posts, but Wheeling led after one period. The Nailers would add to their lead when Mario LaRocque banged in a centering pass from Michel Ouellet at 6:54 of the second stanza. Wheeling outshot the Bombers 16-11 in the middle frame. Bobby Russell added an empty-net goal for the Nailers with 26 seconds left in regulation.
1/19/03- Johnstown 1 @ BOMBERS 3
Winger Chris M. Thompson scored a pair of goals, including a power play tally that turned out to be the game-winner as the Bombers authored their fourth win in a five-game span. Jamie Ling gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead at the 10:15 mark of the first period. He won a face-off, then bursted to the net with the puck and sent a shot past Johnstown goalie Peter Aubry for his eighth goal of the season and 499th point recorded in the East Coast Hockey League. Chris M. Thompson scored his first goal of the game 2:38 later while the Bombers had the man-advantage on a surge toward the net from the right wing. Ben Knopp and Jason Crain assisted on the play. After a scoreless second, Steve Hildenbrand cut the Bombers' lead to 2-1 at 6:31 of the third period right after he had come out of the penalty box. But Chris M. Thompson scored his second of the game and 13th of the season from the slot after receiving a centering pass from Ryan Vince.
