BOISE, Idaho - The West Coast Hockey League's first place Idaho Steelheads (28-10-3) return home to Boise today having gone 4-3 on their two-week road trip in California. Idaho took two of the three games in San Diego, won both against Fresno, but struggled in Bakersfield losing both to the Condors. They have won their last three games at home and are 16-1-0 at the Bank of America Centre this season.

Top of Their League: The Steelheads lead the league in goals (142), assists (234), points (376), and power play goals (51). They also have the best overall power play record scoring 51 goals with 230 opportunities (22.2%). Overall, Idaho has the best penalty kill holding the opposition to just 24 goals in 212 chances (88.7%).

Sizzling Steelhead: The Steelheads have three of the top ten scorers in the league: Marty Flichel (RW) is tied for third with 43 points; Joe Rybar (C) is fourth with 41; and Scott Swanson (D) is sixth with his 40 points. (Anchorage's Dean Larson and Yvan Corbin are first and second in the league in points with 51 and 46 respectively). Flichel leads the league in goals scored with 22, and in power play goals with 12. Swanson leads the league in assists with 34 and his 40 points makes him the top scoring defensemen.

Between the Pipes: Jason Cugnet (21-9-1) is third in the league in goals against average with his 2.21 and save percentage of .911. Cugnet earned his third shutout of the year in Fresno on January 17th with a 5-0 win. Blair Allison's (7-1-2) average is 2.10 and his save percentage is .901 - he has not played since December 6, 2002. In just 10 starts, Blair Allison has tallied two shutouts this season.

Of Note: Dampy Brar (LW) made his debut appearance as a Steelhead on Friday night (Jan. 17th) in Fresno and racked up 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Since then he has added 2 more and is now 2-3-5 in just three games.

In the Community: The Steelheads deliver hot meals to homebound citizens on Mondays through the Meals on Wheels program. Also, this week several Steelheads players will be reading to children at local elementary schools to promote their Stay in School initiative in conjunction with St. Luke's. Players will also be doing live radio remotes for the canned food drive (Monday, January 27th) to benefit the Idaho Food Bank.

Up Next: Idaho welcomes the Long Beach Ice Dogs to town for two games this weekend, January 24th (Taco Bell Collector Cup Giveaway) and 25th (Player Card Giveaway #4). The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. for both games.
