WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers got goals from five different players and a 34 save performance from Martin Houle to pick up their first home win of the year, 5-1 over the Dayton Bombers Saturday night at WesBanco Arena. The Nailers are now 2-2 on the season.

Adam Henrich, who had been suspended for the first three games of the regular season, scored the first goal of the game in his first game. Kevin Croxton and Sean Collins set up Henrich in front of the net on the power play at 17:45 of the first period.

Wheeling increased their lead to two with Seamus Young's power-play wrist shot at 7:57 of the second frame. Mark Letestu and Kyle Rank were credited with assists and Young ripped one over the glove of Rejean Beauchemin for his first of the year.

The lone Dayton goal came at 15:54 of the second also on the power play. Greg Labenski's shot from the point was deflected by Matt Beaudoin just past the outstretched pad of Houle.

Two goals in the span of 35 seconds secured the Nailers lead for good. David Laliberte scored his second goal in as many nights at 19:31 of the second on a pass from Michael Handza and Ned Havern banged home a rebound just 6 seconds into the third.

Rank added a power-play goal at 7:03 of the third for the 5-1 win.

The Nailers were 3 for 9 on the power play and are now 5 for their last 17. Wheeling's 22.9% effectiveness on the man-advantage ranks them fifth in the league and second to only Idaho for teams having played more than three games.

Houle picked up his first win of the year and is now 1-1. Beauchemin stopped 35 shots in a losing effort, he is now 0-1.

The Wheeling Nailers return to the ice on Friday, November 2 at home against the Trenton Titans. It's "Pink in the Rink" and $1 from every ticket sold to the game will go to benefit breast cancer patients in the Upper Ohio Valley. The first 2,500 fans will receive pink "thundersticks" courtesy of OVMC, the Health Plan and WTOV9.
