Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons saw their season-opening three-game unbeaten streak come to an on Friday as they fell to the Alaska Aces 5-1 in front of 3,708 fans at Save Mart Center.
Alaska scored twice in the final 6:30 of the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Tomas Kana opened the scoring at 13:30, beating John Ceci with a wrist shot from the right-wing circle off of a face-off win from F.P. Guenette.
Bo Cheesman doubled the Aces lead at 18:19, redirecting a Bryan Miller shot past Ceci from the top of the crease.
Kimbi Daniels extended Alaska's lead to 3-0 at 12:18 of the second period, rolling a shot just beyond the reach of Ceci for his second goal of the season.
The Aces tallied a power-play goal at 15:26 to open up a four-goal lead. Matt Shasby fed Barrett Heisten on the near post, and he redirected the puck past Ceci for his first goal of the season.
Fresno finally got on the board with a power-play goal at 17:32. Jarrett Konkle found a loose puck in the Aces' crease and pushed it just past the right skate of Chris Beckford-Tseu, cutting the Aces lead to 4-1 after two periods.
The Aces set the final, as Josh Soares put a rebound past Ceci 4:27 into the third period for his first goal of the season.
Fresno concludes its three-game home stand on Saturday, hosting the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. on Rotary at the Rink Night, presented by KMPH Fox 26, Citibank, and The 600 Club.
