Goaltender Zaba Called Up To Hartford

Charlotte, NC -Checkers goaltender, Matt Zaba has been recalled to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Zaba, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, has played in two games this season with the Checkers garnering a record of 1-1-0. He has managed a 3.45 goals against average and a 88.7 save percentage during that time. Last season, in 33 games in the NCAA with Colorado College, Zaba recorded a 15-13-4 record, with a 2.39 GAA, a 91.7 save percentage and three shutouts. He signed a contract with the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League in August of this year.

On Oct. 23, Checkers goaltender, Chris Holt was called up to Hartford. The Checkers were assigned goaltender Daniel Manzato by the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Nov. 7 against the South Carolina Stingrays. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
