Vigilante Called up to AHL Manitoba

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Mike Vigilante has been called up to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.

Vigilante currently ranks second in scoring on the Gladiators with 5 points in two games this season for Gwinnett and a +1, plus/minus rating. His four goals rank first on the team while he has collected three of his four markers on the power play.

The Dearborn, Michigan native returns to the AHL where he spent a majority of the 2003-04 season with the Portland Pirates after beginning that year with Gwinnett. In 59 games with Portland, he notched 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points.

Last year with Gwinnett, Vigilante collected a career high 65 points off of 25 goals and 40 assists as he appeared in all 72 games with the Gladiators. He had a career year in goals scored during the 2004-05 season with the Gladiators collecting 30 goals in 72 games with Gwinnett.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that will have 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
