Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee Admirals' defenseman Curtis Murphy has been selected as a First Team AHL All-Star for this season. The honor marks the second year in a row that Murphy has drawn the selection and is the second post-season award that the Admirals have received thus far. Timofei Shishkanov was selected to the All-Rookie Team yesterday.

Hailing from Kerrobet, Sask., Murphy has put together a stellar first campaign for the Admirals, registering 49 points (16g-33a) and a league leading rating of +38 in 73 games for a Milwaukee squad that leads the league in goals, assists, and total points. His 49 points are tops among league blueliners, as are his 247 shots on goal, four game winning goals, and 16 red-lighters.

Acquired via trade from the Minnesota Wild, Murphy was also selected to the 2004 AHL All-Star Team, an honor he has also received the previous two seasons. In addition, he was the winner of the Eddie Shore Trophy last season, an award given annually to the league's top defenseman. The Eddie Shore winner for this season will be announced on Thursday, April 9.

"Curtis is extremely deserving of this honor," noted Admirals Head Coach Claude Noel. "His vision and intensity allow him to be one of the best defensemen in the league."

The AHL First- and Second-Team All-Stars were selected on a vote by the players and media in each AHL market. Each team is composed of a goalie, two defensemen, and three forwards.
