
Bulldogs defeat AHL's first place team

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the AHL's first place Milwaukee Admirals 5-3 at the Bradley Center on Thursday night. Eero Somervuori led the Bulldogs offensively by scoring his first career hat trick in the game.
The Bulldogs continue to lead the AHL's North Division with 92 points on a record of 39 wins, 23 losses, 10 ties and 4 overtime losses.
Hamilton opened the game's scoring at the 11:09 mark of the first period when Marcel Hossa scored his 17th goal of the season. Tomas Plekanec picked up the assist on the play.
The Admiral's Tony Hrkac evened the score 1-1 with just 55 seconds remaining in the first period. Curtis Murphy and Mathieu Darche assisted on Hrkac's 20th goal of the season.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead 2-1 at 8:08 of the second period as defenceman Francois Beauchemin gave Eero Somervuori a breakaway pass and Somervouri made no mistake by scoring his 15th goal of the season on the Bulldogs' power play.
At 18:06 of the second period the Admirals' Simon Gamache was awarded a penalty shot. Gamache would make the most of his opportunity, as he beat Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis and scored his 23rd goal of the season.
Four goals were scored in the third period, including three for the Bulldogs. Eero Somervuori scored twice and Tomas Plekanec tallied his 20th goal of the season in the third period. Admirals' All-Star defenceman Curtis Murphy had Milwaukee's lone third period goal.
Rookie goaltender Jann Danis won his second consecutive game in as many starts and made 20 saves for the Bulldogs. Admirals' veteran goaltender Wade Flaherty made 27 stops in the Milwaukee loss.
Notes: The Bulldogs finished their four-game regular season series versus the Admirals with a record of three wins and one loss ... Tomas Plekanec moved past Jozef Balej for the team scoring lead with 59 points (20-39-59) ... Hamilton has played just three Thursday games this season and have posted two wins and one loss ... Gamache's penalty shot goal was just the second surrendered in Bulldogs' history ... the Bulldogs last four regular season games will be against North Division opponents
The Hamilton Bulldogs will look to win their40th game of the season on Saturday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m., when they will host the Cleveland Barons at Copps Coliseum.
