Munro returns to Gwinnett from NHL Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Adam Munro has been assigned to the Gladiators from the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks.

The rookie netminder began the season with the Gladiators before being recalled to the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals, on November 19th. Drafted by Chicago in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, 29th overall, Munro was signed by the Blackhawks on February 18th.

The Burlington, Ontario native appeared in 7 games with Chicago where he posted an .880 save percentage, a 3.68 goals against average and 1-5-1 record. Munro tied his NHL debut on March 1st making 33 saves in a 2-2 tie at Nashville and recorded his first NHL win at Washington making 27 saves in 4-3 decision on March 12th.

Munro began the season with the Gladiators where the netminder posted a 2.76 goals against average and 4-1-1 record with Gwinnett. The rookie out of Sault-Ste.-Marie of the OHL recorded the first win in Gladiators history making 19 saves in a 5-3 win at Charlotte on October 19th.

Munro also appeared in 12 games with the Norfolk Admiral from November 20th through February 18th where the netminder posted a 2.24 goals against average and a .902 save percentage while recording a 5-4-1 record in the American Hockey League.

Munro should be available for Game #1 of the Gladiators Central Division Semi-Final against Mississippi at 8:05 p.m. on Wednesday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
