Chiefs Season Ends In Wild Card Game

Johnstown, PA- After setting franchise records for wins, points, home wins and road wins in a season, the Johnstown Chiefs most successful regular season was ended Monday night as the visiting Reading Royals defeated them 2-1 in the Northern division wild card game.

With all the scoring in the first period, Reading jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by David Masse. The Chiefs would close the score late in the first period, when Steve Hildenbrand scored on the power play with 3:49 left.

Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky was a brick wall in net making 32 saves. Chiefs goaltender Dimitri Patzold made 30 saves in the contest.

Reading moves on to face the Wheeling Nailers in a best of five game series that begins Thursday night in Wheeling.
