San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO — The Brabham Cup winning San Diego Gulls announced several player transactions Monday, getting their roster set for the playoffs. Among the transactions is the re-assigning of forwards Nick Lent and Igor Pohanka from the American Hockey League.

Lent's rights were acquired from the Greenville Grrrowl on March 16 for future considerations. He's been on call-up with the AHL's Springfield Falcons since mid February. In 27 games with the Falcons, the 26-year-old winger scored 11 points (3g, 8a), while amassing 35 penalty minutes. Lent started the season with the Reading Royals before being traded to Greenville. In 44 games with Reading, he notched 17 points (7g, 10a) and 51 penalty minutes.

Pohanka re-joins the Gulls after playing 11 games for the Blue and Orange from mid-November to early December. During that span the 20-year-old center recorded six points (1g, 5a) and 10 penalty minutes. Pohanka spent the majority of the season with the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, registering 11 points (5g, 6a) and six penalty minutes in 42 games.

To make room on the roster, Trent Clark and Darren Partch were released. Clark notched three assists and eight penalty minutes in 29 games for the Gulls this season. Partch netted 25 points (16g, 9a) and 21 penalty minutes in 56 games, splitting time with the Gulls, Las Vegas Wranglers and Long Beach Ice Dogs.
