Lynx Finish Year With 32-33-7 Mark
April 5, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx finished off their 2003-04 Season this week, shutting out the Columbus Cottonmouths 4-0 Thursday night in their final home game of the year while dropping road contests to Florida (twice) and South Carolina to finish the season just one game below .500 at 32-33-7.
3/30 Augusta 0 @ South Carolina 3
South Carolina decided that it was high time to return the favor laid on them last time Augusta came to town, responding to a 5-0 loss last time the teams clashed in Charleston with a 3-0 blanking of the Lynx on Tuesday. Ed Courtenay's pair of power play goals paced the offense while Kirk Daubenspeck was solid with 30 saves. Jason Saal stopped 34 shots in the loss.
4/1 Augusta 4 vs Columbus 0
The Lynx decided that being on the positive side of a shutout was the place to be on Thursday against the Columbus Cottonmouths, their final home game of the 2003-04 Season. Jonathan Goodwin and Rob Pascale notched their first pro goals in the contest, while Martin Lapointe and Jarrett Thompson scored the other goals to give Augusta the win. Jason Saal earned his fifth shutout of the year to tie him for the ECHL lead in that category, stopping 30 shots on goal.
4/2 Augusta 0 @ Florida 5
The back and forth nature of not scoring continued for the Lynx during the week as this time it was Jeff Maund who stepped up and blanked the Lynx with 40 saves while John McNabb's two goal, one assist performance paced the Everblades offense. Jason Saal stopped 30 shots in the loss for Augusta.
4/3 Augusta 2 @ Florida 4
Augusta finally broke the shutout string but couldn't pull of the victory in Saturday nights' season-ending loss to the Everblades. Brandon Doria had a goal and an assist while Louis Goulet notched two assists for the club in the game, while Jason Saal turned aside 31 shots in the loss.
