
Everblades sweep Augusta to clinch playoff berth

Florida travels to Roanoke for Games #1 & #2 and returns home Friday for Game #3 The Florida Everblades won their last three regular season games including a home sweep of the Augusta Lynx this past weekend to finish tied for second place in the ECHL's Southern Division. Florida will meet the Roanoke Express in the best of five Southern Divisional Semifinals in the 2004 Kelly Cup playoffs. The Blades will travel to Roanoke for the first two games this Tuesday and Thursday at 7:05 PM. Since the Express won the divisional tiebreaker (# of wins), the Blades will play on the road for the first two games and return home to TECO Arena this Friday night for Game #3 at 7:30 PM. Florida forward Brian McCullough tied an Everblades all-time single season mark with 87 points, and set two Blades records in a season with 40 goals and 11 game winning goals. McCullough also finished third in the ECHL in scoring and second in goal scoring. Everblades regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com, www.ABC-7.com and www.NBC-2.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Dan Guenther calling the play-by-play. The games can be also be heard inside TECO arena on 96.5 FM.

GAME NOTES: This will be the fifth meeting between the two clubs this season and first in the Kelly Cup playoffs. The Everblades went 2-2-0 versus the Express during the regular season. Roanoke upended the Blades 2-1 at the Roanoke Civic Center back on March 26th. The Express finished tied for second with the Blades but won the tiebreaker with Florida(# of wins). Blades forward Tom Buckley is Florida's all-time leading scorer in the playoffs with 8-12-20. He leads Florida in goals (8), assists (12), points (20), games played (16) and game winning goals (2) during the playoffs. Florida netminder Jeff Maund holds a 1-1-0 record and a 2.69 GAA in two playoff games with the Everblades.

The Florida Everblades (36-25-10) shutout the Augusta Lynx (32-32-7) 5-0 in front of 6,449 at TECO arena Friday night. Florida forward John McNabb (2 goals, 1 assist) and netminder Jeff Maund (40 saves) helped lead the way.

The Florida Everblades (37-25-10) defeated the Augusta Lynx (32-33-7) 4-2 in front of 7,479 at TECO arena Saturday night. The Everblades are in the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the number three seed in the Southern Division. They will take on the Roanoke Express in Roanoke beginning on Tuesday.
