Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 3-2 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday night. The Thunder took a 1-0 lead at 8:37 in the first period when Brent Ottmann's wrist shot from the left hashmark beat Ken Carroll to the right. Ottmann grabbed a rebound from Jay Henderson who had just stripped the puck from a Bugs' defender. Inside the six-minute marker, Jon Horrell made a clutch save on a two-on-one, kicking his right pad out to protect the backdoor and preserve the lead.

Bossier tied the game at 1-1 on a power play goal at the 16:54 mark in the second. Tyrel Lucas took a snap shot from the left hash mark that Jon Horrell tipped with his glove, causing it to dribble behind him. Dave Pszenyczny skated in from the left side of the crease and tipped the glove into the net before Horrell had a chance to reach back. 42 seconds later, Mark Johnson connected on a one-timer on a pass from the corner by Joe Ori.

Glenn Detulleo's shot from the right half-wall at 6:09 in the third period bounced past Carroll on the long side of the net to tie the game. The Mudbugs regained the lead at 10:18 when a falling Joe Ori buried a pass from the corner by Joe Blaznek over the shoulder of Horrell.

Horrell saved 20 of 23 in the loss, while Carroll earned the win saving 13 of 15. Wichita went 0 for 5 on the power play. The Mudbugs were 1 for 6.

The Thunder and Mudbugs finish their weekend series Saturday night. Opening faceoff at the Coliseum is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
