Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Jordan Cameron capped-off the hat trick effort with an empty-net tally with 12 seconds remaining in the contest, helping his club to a 5-2 win over the Arizona Sundogs Saturday night.

The Brahmas grabbed a lead they would never relinquish 13:07 into the first period on a 5-on-4 power play as A.J. Gale recorded his 10th of the season from Luke Sellars and Kevin McLeod.

On a call that could have went either way, Kyle Hood was whistled for interference at the 11:11 mark after bumping into the Brahmas' Joe Palmer as the netminder was well out of his crease to play the puck.

Moving from right to left across the top of the crease, Gale redirected a Sellars shot from the point over the left shoulder of Kyle McNulty with just four seconds remaining on the man advantage.

Arizona outshot Texas 11-5 in the opening frame despite trailing by one after 20 minutes of play.

Texas and Cameron chased McNulty from the contest less than six minutes into the middle frame with two goals on as many shots to open a three-goal cushion early in the second.

Elias Godoy tallied his first of the year 2:25 into the second period, surprising McNulty with a shot along the ice between the goaltender's legs from the low slot before Cameron picked up his first of two second-period goals just over three minutes later, cutting the starting netminder's night short.

Converting on his club's seventh power play opportunity of the game, veteran forward Steve Potvin cut the Brahmas' lead back to two with his third marker of the season, sending nearly 1,000 stuffed animals to the ice in the team's first-ever ‘Teddy Bear Toss'.

In position at the top of the goal crease, Potvin knocked home a rebound chance on a Nick Biondo shot from the top of the far circle at 13:31.

Cameron quickly reclaimed a three-goal for Texas, converting on a turnover at the side of the Sundogs' net two minutes later.

In an effort to play the puck, backup goaltender Klimkovich, in his first action with Arizona, lost a turnover to former Sundog Mark Kolanos at the side of the cage.

Klimkovich nearly recovered with an initial save on Cameron but fell backwards, sending the puck over the goal line with 4:28 to play in the second.

Kim Karsberg netted his first of the season and Arizona's second power-play goal of the game late in the third, cutting the Brahmas' lead back to two with 65 seconds to play in regulation but Cameron closed out scoring with Klimkovich pulled in favor of an extra attacker in the closing seconds.

In his first action with Arizona, Klimkovich turned aside 12 of 13 shots in relief of McNulty.

Palmer allowed two goals on 35 shots in the win, improving to 7-3-2 on the year.

Texas converted once on three power-play tries while Arizona converted just twice on 12 man-advantage opportunities.

Next up for the Sundogs (9-14-3) is a two-game set against the Odessa Jackalopes beginning Saturday, Dec. 26 at 6:05pm (Arizona time). Catch the game live on KDDL ‘Cattle Country' 94.3FM, the Official Radio Home of the Arizona Sundogs, or online at www.cattlecountryradio.com.
