Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas -In their final game before Christmas the Brahmas delivered a 5-2 victory to their fans as they defeated the Sundogs in Arizona Saturday night. Forward Jordan Cameron netted a hat trick in the game.
Texas took advantage of their first powerplay in the game when rookie forward A.J. Gale shot the puck over the left shoulder of Kyle McNulty for the 1-0 lead. The goal remained the lone tally in the opening period.
The Brahmas offense was on fire in the middle frame, scoring three goals on the âDogs. Elias Godoy led the purple pack, shooting the puck through the legs of McNulty; defenseman Luke Sellars assisted on the even strength tally. Three minutes later Cameron and Grant Jacobsen swarmed the Arizona net and were able to create enough havoc on the Arizona netminder for a three goal lead and Cameron's sixth goal of the season. The impending goal ended the evening for McNulty as Arizona sent rookie goaltender Sergey Klimkovich in relief at the 5:43 mark.
Following a delay of game penalty called on Texas, the âDogs were able to crack the Brahmas man in the mask, Joe Palmer, 82 seconds into the powerplay. The celebration was cut short when James Hiebert and Mark Kolanos fed the puck up to Cameron who pressured Klimkovich in the crease, ultimately earning his second goal of the night and the Texas three goal lead.
Despite giving up one more powerplay goal, the Brahmas who owned an 11-0 record when leading after two periods with them headed into the game, were able to keep the record flawless holding on to the 5-2 lead for their 14th victory of the year. Cameron was able to pot his first hat trick of the season with an empty net goal with:14 seconds remaining on the board. Palmer earned the win in net stopping 32 shots on goal.
Next Saturday, December 26 the Brahmas and Allen Americans will kick-off their two game "North Texas Vintage Game Series" at the Allen Events Center. The game is in remembrance of the storied rivalries between the Fort Worth and Dallas hockey teams. Texas will wear Fort Worth Wings jerseys and Allen will don Dallas Blackhawks sweaters. The Brahmas will host their game January 8.
Texas returns to the NYTEX Sports Centre Sunday, December 27 when they host the Wichita Thunder at 4:05 PM. Following the game all fans are invited to a free post game skate with the team. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas at (817) 336-4423 or check www.brahmas.com.
