Colorado Eagles Give Back In Big Way

December 19, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - During the second intermission at tonight's game, the Colorado Eagles presented three checks to local causes with funds that were generated with the help of the team's fan base. Checks totaling $75,000 were presented to Honor Flight of Northern Colorado ($25,000), the Wilbur's Fund for Women with Breast Cancer ($25,000) and the Poudre Valley Health System cancer center ($25,000).

The majority of the money was raised through special game-worn jersey auctions and replica sales for two of the respective causes earlier in the season. The Eagles wore special pink jerseys in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness on Oct. 9, and special camouflage jerseys in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11. The team also helped raise funds for the ongoing construction of a fitness and rehabilitation center at PVHS's cancer center through the Colorado Eagles Foundation over the past year and a half.

The Eagles added additional money to each of the checks -- totaling $12,000 -- in order to reach the $25,000 amounts.
