Allen Americans News Release

ODESSA, Texas - The Allen Americans lost the second game in a row to the Odessa Jackalopes 3-0 tonight. Allen's record is now 17-6-2 (36 points).

The goalies were tested early in the game, and Allen's Chris Whitley and Odessa's Joel Martin looked unbeatable in net. The Americans had 13 shots on goal in the opening frame, while the Jackalopes shot 14 pucks at Whitley. The teams entered the first intermission in a 0-0 tie.

The tie didn't last long, as Odessa's Kory Karlander scored 53 seconds in to the second period. A turnover resulted in the second Jackalope goal by Jean Bourbeau at 8:30 to give Odessa a 2-0 lead.

Allen continued to swarm the net but had no luck in the third, as the club could not register a goal in the final frame. The Americans put plenty of pressure on Martin late in the game when they pulled Whitley and put the extra attacker on during a 5-on-3 power play. The late push wasn't enough, though. Kenny Bernard gave the Jackalopes their final goal of the game at 11:08 on a shorthanded rush to the net.

Chris Whitley made 29 saves tonight. Allen outshot the Jacks 37-32.

The Americans travel back to Odessa Tuesday, Dec. 22, to play the Jackalopes for the third time in a row. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.

The next home game is the first contest in the Vintage Series with the Texas Brahmas Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Allen Event Center. The Americans will don Dallas Blackhawks jerseys, and the Brahmas will wear Fort Worth Wings sweaters in a night commemorating DFW's minor league hockey rivalries of the old days. Allen then hosts Bossier-Shreveport at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 27.
