
Bucks Blitzed In Amarillo 6-3

AMARILLO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of Central Hockey League fell to the Amarillo Gorilas 6-3 Saturday night at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bucks fall to 13-7-4 (30 points) and have lost two of three so far on their season-high four game road trip.
David Nimmo scored two goals for Amarillo, while Toumas Lohtander 28 of 31 shots to pick up the win. The Gorillas snapped their six-game winless streak.
The Gorillas jumped out in front of the Bucks 1-0 in the first period when Stuart MacRae jammed in a pass from Jack Morrisette 11:16 into the game. The tally was MacRae's 12th of the season. The Bucks have given up the first goal in two of the three games thus far on their road trip.
The Bucks were outshot in the first period 12-7.
Amarillo increased their lead in the second period by scoring five goals to take a 6-2 lead after 40 minutes.
Nimmo knocked in a rebound from the left side of the crease 3:22 into the period to make it 2-0 Gorillas.
The Bucks would cut the Amarillo lead to 2-1 at the 4:38 mark when Lance Monych hammered in a slap shot from the top of the left circle. The strike was Monych's sixth of the season, and second in three games.
Amarillo would increase their lead to 3-1 when Nimmo scored his second of the night from the high slot off of a pass from behind the net.
Laredo would cut the lead to 3-2 at the 8:47 mark of the period when they struck on the power-play. Darryl Smith scored on a backhander off the rebound to tally his 10th of the season.
Then the Gorillas scored three straight goals to take a 6-2 lead after two periods.
Erik Feld (10:59), Jake Obermyer (12:06), and Anthony Battaglia (18:25) tallied for the Gorillas to increase their lead.
The Bucks pulled Kyle Gajewski after the Gorillas fifth goal and sent in Mark Sibbald to make his CHL debut. Gajewski stopped 19 of 24 shots he faced.
The Bucks were outhshot in the second period 17-10.
Curtis Billsten made it 6-3 when he jammed in a rebound with 2:37 left in the game.
Sibbald stopped 13 of 14 shots in relieft of Gajewski.
Laredo was outshot for the game 38-31.
The Bucks will finish their season-high four-game road trip Tuesday in Missouri.
