The IceRays played a great first period, pressuring the Bees throughout most of the frame, and putting up a season-high 21 shots on goal. Corpus Christi was rewarded for their hard work by taking the first lead of the game. At 15:48 Justin Quenneville scored on a wrist shot from the left circle on a delayed penalty to make it 1-0 IceRays. The lead held into the final seconds of the period, but Grant Goeckner-Zoeller answered at 19:46 when he scored from the bottom of the right circle from a centering pass from behind the net. The teams went into the dressing room tied 1-1. The Rays outshot the Bees 21-14 in the period.
The IceRays reclaimed the lead with a pair of goals in the second period. Chad Woollard notched his third of the weekend on a one-timer from the right circle at 2:47. Then at 14:23 R.G. Flath poked a puck in the crease underneath goaltender Andy Franck to make it 3-1 IceRays. The Rays outshot the bees 11-8 in the period.
Flath increased the lead to 4-1 for Corpus Christi with a rebound goal at 7:50 of the third. The Bees tried to get back into the game with a Brett Clouthier rebound tally at 14:58, but the IceRays capped the scoring with an empty net goal from Ryan Garbutt at 18:23 to punctuate the Rays victory.
Kevin Desfosses (3-4) earned the win making 31 saves on 33 shots while Andy Franck (7-7-3) tok the loss stopping 33 of 37 shots he faced. The IceRays power play went 0-5 and the Bees went 0-5. The IceRays outshot the Bees each had 38 -33 in the game.
