Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Appleton, WI - Trevor Morrison's go ahead two-RBI double in the seventh inning pushed the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 4-3 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday night at Fox Cities Stadium. The Bandits could not capitalize on losses by both Clinton and Peoria so they remain one game out of first place in the Western Division.
The River Bandits broke open a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning. Bryan De La Cruz and Adrian Tovalin led off the inning with back-to-back singles off of Wisconsin starter Nelson Hernandez. After Michael Papierski went down on strikes, Alfredo Angarita hooked a triple down the right field line and into the corner. Both runners scored and the Bandits owned a 2-0 lead. Jonathan Lacroix followed with a base hit to knock in Angarita and the lead was 3-0.
Wisconsin came right back to score a pair in the bottom of the inning. Gilbert Lara started the frame with a double and scored on another double from Kenny Corey. After a single by Jay Feliciano and a throwing error, runners were left on second and third. Yohan Ramirez fired a wild pitch to the backstop to allow a second run to score and the gap closed to 3-2.
That score held into the bottom half of the seventh. A walk and a hit batter allowed Wisconsin to put two on base with no outs. Zach Clark bunted the runners into scoring position. After Ramirez struck out Tristen Lutz, Morrison worked the count full before doubling over the head of Lacroix in left to score both runners and give the Timber Rattlers a 4-3 advantage.
Jose Cuas and Gabe Friese each worked a scoreless inning to close the door on the Bandits.
Starter Enoli Paredes worked 4.1 innings for the Bandits, allowing two runs on four hits to go with five strikeouts. Ramirez worked the final 3.2 innings. He surrendered two runs on two hits with a walk and four strikeouts while suffering the loss.
The River Bandits came up with six hits in the contest. De La Cruz was responsible for a pair and Angarita was 2-3 with two RBI in his River Bandits debut.
The River Bandits (32-27) and Timber Rattlers (27-32) will close out the series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The River Bandits go with RHP Cristian Javier (2-1, 1.87) while Wisconsin goes with RHP Carlos Herrera (0-3, 5.30).
All River Bandits games are broadcast on 1170 K-BOB and TuneIn Radio. Home games are also available with video on MiLB.TV.
