Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, Iowa - The Midwest League released the rosters for the 54th annual Midwest League All-Star Game on Wednesday morning. River Bandits pitchers Parker Mushinski, Patrick Sandoval, and Peter Solomon have been chosen to represent the Western Division in the midsummer classic. The game will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at Lansing's Cooley Law School Stadium. The all-star rosters are voted on by the field managers of the league's 16 teams.
Mushinski was the Astros 7th round pick in the 2017 draft out of Texas Tech. He has made ten appearances, seven of them starts, and owns a 2-0 record with a miniscule 1.90 earned run average. He has recorded 54 strikeouts in 42.2 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .209 batting average against him. The 22-year old left-hander has not allowed more than three runs in any of his outings this season.Â
Sandoval was selected in the 11th round of the 2015 draft out of Mission Viejo High School in California. He has compiled a 5-1 record and 3.31 ERA this season in 11 games, seven as a starter. He has collected 52 strikeouts and issued only 10 walks in 49.0 innings on the mound. Aside, from a tough outing in April during which he allowed 10 runs on 10 hits in 1.2 innings, Sandoval has allowed just eight earned runs in his other 47.1 innings on the hill, resulting in an ERA of 1.52. The 21-year old was a member of last season's team that won the Midwest League title in September.
Solomon was drafted out of Notre Dame in the 4th round of the 2017 draft. He is 2-1 with a 2.83 earned run average this season in 11 games, six of them starts. In 41.1 innings, Solomon has struck out 50 opposing hitters, while walking 21. Solomon allowed more than three earned runs in an outing just once and has recorded at least five strikeouts in five of his outings.Â
The River Bandits coaching staff will represent the Western Division as the field staff for the all-star game. Manager Mickey Storey, pitching coach Graham Johnson, hitting coach Dillon Lawson, development coach Rafael Pena, athletic trainer Elliot Diehl, and strength and conditioning coach Mike Hoffman will all serve in the same roles for the Western Division in the game.
The River Bandits are just one game out of first place with 12 games remaining in the first half. The team will return home on Tuesday, June 12 to close out the half with a six-game homestand against Clinton and Burlington. For ticket information, call (563) 324-3000, visit riverbandits.com or stop by the box office at Modern Woodmen Park.
