Lugnuts Place Standout Large on DL, Add Ryan Gold

LANSING, Mich. - In conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, Lansing Lugnuts infielder Cullen Large has been placed on the 7-day Disabled List and catcher/first baseman Ryan Gold was transferred to the Lugnuts from Extended Spring Training.

Large, 22, homered for the third consecutive game on Tuesday night in Bowling Green before departing the game in the fifth inning. He is batting .316 with five home runs in 27 games with the Nuts, posting an impressive .411 on-base percentage and .568 slugging percentage. This is the second stint on the Disabled List this year for Large, who was drafted in the fifth round in 2017 from the College of William and Mary.

Gold, 20, was selected in the 27th round in 2016 from Carolina Forest High School in South Carolina, though he was originally born in California and spent his first three high school years in New Jersey. Gold played 39 games in 2017 with the Adv. Rookie Bluefield Blue Jays, slashing .302 / .382 / .482 with four home runs and 34 RBIs. He becomes the 40th player to suit up for the Lugnuts in 2018.

The official Lugnuts roster is attached, with 25 active players and eight players on the Disabled List.
