Fresno Falcons News Release
Phoenix, Ariz. - Jake Moreland made 41 saves, and stopped all five shots in the shootout, leading the Fresno Falcons to a 2-1 win in a shootout over the Phoenix RoadRunners on Tuesday in front of 3,051 fans at US Airways Center.
Matt Quinn scored the lone goal of the opening period to give Fresno a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Josh Ciocco dropped a pass to Quinn in the high slot, and he beat goaltender Taylor Dakers with a long wrist shot for his 12th goal of the season.
The RoadRunners pulled even 4:21 into the second period. Jake Moreland cut off a loose puck behind his own net, and looked to clear up the left-wing wall. But, Ryan Walsh forced a steal along the boards, and beat Moreland back to the front of the net for his 11th goal of the year, tying the game heading into the third period.
The game remained tied through the rest of regulation and overtime, setting the stage for the shootout. Josh Prudden scored in round one for Fresno, while Moreland stopped all five RoadRunner shots to give the Falcons the win.
