Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release
COLUMBIA, SC - President Greg Schuh and Head Coach John Marks announced that the Ice Pilots have signed forwards Brian Pouliot and Michael Mullen from New England College in Henniker, NH. The two seniors were second and third respectively in scoring for the Pilgrims and will be in uniform tonight when the Ice Pilots visit the Columbia Inferno.
Pouliot (POOL-e-ott) played in 26 games this season for New England College, scoring 38 points (18g-20a). The five-foot-ten-inch, 180 pound forward had three game winning goals, three power play goals and two shorthanded tallies for the Pilgrims this year.
"He was fifth in the ECAC east in points," said Marks of Pouliot. "He is a skilled player who should bring some added offense to our team."
Pouliot is a 23 year old native of Hooksett, NH who spent his first two collegiate seasons at the University of New Hampshire upon transferring to New England College. Over four seasons, Pouliot played 95 games, scoring 31 goals and 40 assists for 71 points.
Mullen who was one of the Pilgrims captains played in 27 games, scoring 32 points (13g-19a). The six-foot, 185 pound forward scored seven of his 13 goals on the power play. Mullen is a 23 year old native of Pittsburgh, PA who spent three seasons playing for the Pilgrims, skating in 75 career games and scoring 32 goals with 46 assists for 78 points.
"Michael is a player of excellent genetics. His father Joey played many, many years in the National Hockey League and Uncle Brian was also a professional player in the NHL," said Marks of Mullen. "Believing in genetics, this young man should have something to bring to the table; excellent speed, a lot of grit and he was one of the leading scorers on his hockey team."
Mullen started his college career at University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Don't miss the hard hitting, exciting action, as the Ice Pilots' next home game is Monday, March 24 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Augusta Lynx at the Civic Center. Group Tickets and Military Packages are still available through the Ice Pilots office.
