Checkers Sign Forward Garrett Peters

CHARLOTTE N.C. - Head coach and general manager of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced today that the team has signed forward, Garrett Peters from the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Also, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League have reassigned defenseman, Ryan Constant to the Checkers.

Peters, 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, has played three seasons in the QMJHL. The East Providence, Rhode Island native finished this season with the Voltigeurs recording 32 goals and 27 assists for 59 points in 70 games where he led his team in scoring. He is expected to make his professional debut on Thursday night against the Augusta Lynx.

Constant, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds has skated in 45 games for the Checkers this season registering three goals and 14 assists for 17 points with 70 penalty minutes which ranks him second among defenseman in scoring. He has dressed in 12 games with Hartford this season and garnered one goal with four penalty minutes.
