Elmira Jackals News Release


ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, won three of four games last week (3-1-0-0) to remain in second place in the North Division and enter the week with ten games left in the 2007-08 regular season.

Overall: 36-19-3-4 (79 pts.) 2nd North Division/5th American Conference/7th Overall Last Week: 3-1-0-0 (6 pts.)

Wednesday, March 12th - @ READING (3-4 L) Att: 4,587 Shots: 33-24 REA PP: 1/5 PK: 5/5

A three-goal second period sparked the Royals comeback and VLADMIR DRAVECKY netted the game-winner 5:48 into the final period. BOBBY ROBINS scored twice (13, 14) for the Jackals, once shorthanded and the other on the power play, in the loss.

Friday, March 15th - v. READING (6-3 W) Att: 3,824 Shots: 39-34 ELM PP: 4/7 PK: 4/6

Elmira led 3-1 after twenty minutes and were never headed after that. BOBBY ROBINS posted a season-high with three points including his second straight two-goal effort (15, 16) against the Royals, including the game-winner twenty-seconds into the final period. MAXIME BOISCLAIR scored twice in his First Arena debut. Elmira struck for a season-high four power play goals in the win.

Saturday, March 16th - @ JOHNSTOWN (3-0 W) Att: 2,585 Shots: 24-23 ELM PP: 1/6 PK: 7/7

ERVINS MUSTUKOVS stopped all 23 shots for his first ECHL shutout of the season and third of his career to lead the Jackals to their fourth win in five tries at the Cambria County War Memorial this year. BRUCE WATSON's sixth goal, his third game-winner, came 13:13 into play and proved to be all of the offense the Jackals would need.

Monday, March 17th - v. WHEELING (5-2 W) Att: 2,895 Shots: 41-16 ELM PP: 1/7 PK: 2/4

The Jackals scored three times in the decisive final period to shake free of the Nailers and pick up their third straight victory. MAXIME BOISCLAIR (3) snapped a 2-2 tie 3:56 into the third period while BOBBY ROBINS (17th goal) and BRETT PILKINGTON (two assists) extended their point streaks to six games each.

Jackals Trading Card Night (Strip #2 of 3) Saturday

The Jackals and Bombers meet in a pair of tilts at First Arena before closing out their season series with two games the following weekend (Saturday/Sunday) at the Nutter Center in Ohio. Dayton picked up four points in their most recent visit to Elmira February 29th (4-3 so) and March 1st (3-1) with both clubs sporting a 3-2-0-1 mark in the series.

This 11-game season series wraps up Friday with the Jackals holding an 11-10 points edge. The clubs split a pair of games last week with each winning on home ice. Elmira owns a 4-0 advantage on First Arena ice versus Reading and has outscored the Royals 20-10 at home this year. The clubs are separated by three points in the race for home ice.

Jackals Bites: - On the heels of a six-game losing streak, the Jackals have won 5 of their last 6 to move back into second place in the North Division...Elmira opened up a five-game home stand Monday with a 5-2 win over Wheeling and plays six of their final 10 games on home ice...Elmira has scored the first goal of the game in 13 consecutive contests (6-4-1-2)...Elmira has given up a league-high 18 SHG...The Jackals entertained their 13th sellout crowd (3,824) of the season Friday night at the 3,784 seat First Arena in beating Reading 6-3...The Jackals finished their season series against Johnstown Saturday with a 3-0 road win. Jackals On the Air: All 72 regular season games will air live on MAGIC FM (92.7/97.7) beginning with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Face-Off 30 minutes prior to game time (except televised games). WETM-2 will televise 11 Friday night contests live from First Arena with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night. This Friday's contest is the final regular season telecast on WETM-2. A free audio stream and a pay-per-view video stream are available at www.jackalshockey.com. The team's weekly Coach's Show airs Mondays throughout the season from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. on NewsTalk 1230/1450 live from O'Ryans Sports Bar & Grill, 159 Prescott Avenue - Elmira Heights. The show is also available on-line via www.jackalshockey.com. There will not be a show Monday, March 17th, as the Jackals play the Wheeling Nailers at First Arena that night.
