Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Cincinnati, OH - Despite an early morning start to Wednesday's game, the Johnstown offense was wide awake, scoring twice in the first five minutes of the game. The early outburst wasn't enough, though, as the Cyclones scored four power play goals en route to a 4-3 victory.

Alex Imbeault pounded home his 19th goal of the season 2:51 into the opening frame. Joel Gasper shot the puck out of the left wing corner, banking it off of goaltender Cody Rudkowski right to Imbeault. The assist was the first in a pro game for Gasper.

Jason Spence got into the scoring act at 4:07 of the first, his fifth of the year. Vincent Zaore used a right wing shot to leave Spence open to send the rebound home. Joey Olson picked up the other assist.

The Cyclones got a huge burst from their league-leading power play in the first. The combination of Mathieu Aubin scoring from David Desharnais and Olivier Latendresse teamed up for both goals. The first came on a 5-on-3 with Imbeault off for holding and Brandon Straub off for slashing. 25 seconds after Aubin ended the 5-on-3 he scored a traditional 5-on-4 power play goal to tie the game.

Aubin teamed up with Desharnais to set up Latendresse, again on the power play, at 14:24 of the second to take their first lead of the game at 3-2.

Cincinnati only managed one shot on goal the entire third period, but they made it count as Latendresse scored a point shot for his second goal of the game at 4:11 of the final frame. Mike Knight got the Chiefs back within one goal by pounding home a loose puck from the edge of the crease. The goal left the Chiefs with 2:18 to try for the equalizer, but for the second straight night they couldn't score with Nie pulled in favor of the extra attacker.

Nie ended the game with 10 saves on 14 shots, and the Chiefs' power play went 0-for-3.
