WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento River Cats infielder Scott Moore has been named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for the week of May 20-26, the PCL announced today.

Moore hit .455 with three home runs and seven RBIs last week, and is currently 8-for-11 in the first three games of the River Cats' series against the Tucson Padres. He had an on-base percentage of .556 and slugged 1.419 in six games for Sacramento last week, leading the Cats to five wins and helping them extend their lead in the Pacific Southern Division to 2 ½ games. The corner infielder-who also has played left field for the Cats this season-went 5-for-6 with two home runs and four RBIs on Saturday, May 25, against the Tucson Padres, including a game-tying three-run blast in the top of the eighth inning.

Moore, from Long Beach, Calif., was selected in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2002 Major League draft by the Detroit Tigers. After being traded, he made his Major League debut in September, 2006 as a member of the Chicago Cubs. He was signed to a minor league contract by the Oakland Athletics prior to the 2013 season. Moore is currently hitting .297 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs for the River Cats.

Moore is the second River Cats player honored by the league this year, after Bruce Billings took home Pitcher of the Week honors last Monday.
