TOLEDO, Ohio - The Manchester Monarchs could only muster 15 shots on goal, and were blanked by the Toledo Walleye, 2-0, Saturday night at the Huntington Center.

With the loss, the Monarchs (18-10-0-1) have now split four contests with the Walleye (15-7-1-3) this season.

After a scoreless first period, Toledo broke the ice at 13:45 in the second frame when Alden Hirschfeld scored his 13th goal of the season. Hirschfeld took a pass from Dominic Zombo from behind the net and sent a screaming one-timer from the right circle past Monarchs goaltender, Cedrick Desjardins.

Zombo added to the Walleye lead, scoring his 2nd goal of the season on the power play, at 17:48 of the second period. Zombo posted up in the slot and tipped home a shot from the right point past the left leg of Desjardins.

Manchester was unable to get much going in the third period, and were eventually blanked by former Monarch, Jeff Lerg.

The Monarchs are back on the ice the day after Christmas, Dec. 26 (7 p.m.), when they visit the Adirondack Thunder in the first game of a weekend home-and-home series with their divisional rivals.
