Elmira Jackals News Release

READING, PA - December 19, 2015 - It took a shutout performance by Adam Morrison to halt the red-hot Jackals' winning streak at seven games. C.J. Motte was terrific stopping 34 of 35 shots faced, but was out-dueled by Morrison. Ian Watters scored the game-winning goal in the first period on Teddy Bear Toss Night in Reading. Robbie Czarnik added the empty-net goal.

The penalty-filled contest opened with a heavyweight tilt just 1:14 into regulation when Todd Perry roughed Colin Jacobs behind the Royals' net causing a reaction from Garrett Klotz and an altercation to ensue. The lone goal scored against either netminder came at 6:36 as Ian Watters tapped in a loose puck in the slot for his fourth goal of the season. Adam Comrie and Mike Marcou added the assists on Watters' power-play goal. Before the first period was over Garrett Klotz dropped the gloves for a second tilt as Derek Mathers provided the willing combatant.

The second period was littered with penalties and four-on-four situations but neither team was able to break through, sending the game to the third 1-0 in favor of Reading.

The Jackals generated chances and suffered bad luck from striking multiple posts failing to solve Morrison. The best scoring chance came on a two-on-one as Garrett Ladd fed the puck to Mark Bennett in the slot. Bennett released a wrist shot but Morrison flashes the leather making a highlight reel save to keep the Jackals off the board. Robbie Czarnik added the empty-net goal with 13 seconds remaining to seal the contest.

C.J. Motte turned aside 34 of 35 shots faced in a terrific performance but was saddled with the tough luck loss. Adam Morrison stopped all 33 shots faced to earn the shutout win.
