Orlando Solar Bears News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Orlando Solar Bears (10-10-2-3), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, fell to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (12-12-3-0) by a 6-1 score in front of 3,325 on Saturday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Midway through the first period the Solar Bears were awarded a power play, but Greenville's Jack Combs potted a shorthanded goal to give the home team a 1-0 lead at 11:53 when he shielded the puck in the slot and then turned and fired a shot underneath the pads of Ryan Massa.

T.J. Foster and Erik Bradford teamed up on a 2-on-1 situation in the game's 15th minute, but Bradford's shot rang the right post and clanked away to safety for Greenville.

Joey Holka extended the lead for the Swamp Rabbits when he stepped into a dropped feed from Jordan Knackstedt and blasted a shot at 17:28 to make it 2-0.

Orlando got on the board early in the second period when Erik Bradford won a faceoff back to the left point for Spencer McAvoy who carried the puck into the corner and floated a pass into the slot for Christopher Clapperton, who hammered a shot past P.J. Musico at 0:51.

Jordan Knackstedt scored at 6:11 of the third period, but the Solar Bears would continue pressing late into the frame, pulling Massa for an extra attacker. However, Greenville got an empty-net goal from Bretton Cameron at 18:29, and the Swamp Rabbits added a power-play goal from Justin DaSilva at 18:44 and Zack LaRue capped the scoring at 19:02.

Massa took the loss with 22 saves on 27 shots against; Musico earned the win with 26 stops on 27 shots.
