NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- Ethan Werek had a goal and an assist to lead the Florida Everblades to a 4-1 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Florida took both games in South Carolina this weekend to extend their lead over the Stingrays in the South Division to nine points.

The two teams skated to a 1-0 Florida lead through the first 40 minutes of the game before the offense took over the third period. The Everblades struck early in the second period to extend their lead to 2-0 on a Evan Bloodoff goal on a five-on-three power play. South Carolina goaltender Mark Dekanich stopped a Ryan Martindale shot, but Bloodoff knocked in the rebound at 1:58.

South Carolina would score its lone goal on the power at 5:28 of the third period. David Pacan scored his sixth goal of the season on a rebound. Brendan Ellis' point shot was denied by Florida goaltender Rasmus Tirronen, but the puck sat loose in the slot. Pacan maneuvered around the goaltender and scored from the right side.

Florida would score a backbreaking goal at 7:25 to regain the two goal lead. Werek converted for his 12th goal of the season on a give-and-go with Matt Willows. Werek beat Stingrays defenseman Bobby Shea to the net and roofed a shot over Dekanich's blocker to make it 3-1.

Martindale would add an empty net goal at 18:31 to secure the victory for Florida.

The Stingrays outshot the Everblades 27-20 on the evening. Florida was 1-for-4 on the power play while South Carolina was 1-for-2.
