Walleye Shut Down and Shut out Manchester 2-0

(Toledo, OH) Alden Hirschfeld and Dominic Zombo each scored for the Walleye as Toledo took down Manchester 2-0 in front of a standing room only crowd of 8,200 at the Huntington Center Saturday night. Toledo has an overall record of 15-7-1-3 and 5-2-0-1 at home.

After a scoreless first period, the Walleye went to work in the second. Alden Hirschfeld (13th) sent a perfect wrist shot past Manchester goaltender Cedric Desjardins at 13:45 to put Toledo up 1-0. Dominic Zombo (2nd) deflected Joel Chouinard's blue line shot into the back of the net at 17:48 for a 2-0 lead.

The Walleye dominated the second period out shooting the Monarchs 14-2. Manchester sent eight shots on the goal in the third period but Jeff Lerg turned aside them all.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped all 15 of the shots he faced and has a record of 10-3-2. Toledo has a record of 2-1-1 vs. the Monarchs this season. The goal by Alden Hirschfeld in the second period set a new career high for him in goals.
