ANCHORAGE, AK - Tim Coffman scored twice in a three-goal third period, and the Alaska Aces kicked off a holiday homestand with a 5-2 victory over the Rapid City Rush Friday at Sullivan Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Collin Valcourt redirected a William Wrenn shot from the slot on the power play for a 1-0 lead. Gleason Fournier upped the lead to 2-0 with his 8th goal of the season, a laser wrister to the upper corner of the net.

A collision between Fournier and referee Andy Howard caused a loose puck at the Rush blue line, and that helped spring Daniel Barczuk on a 2 on 1 and he cashed in to cut the lead to 2-1. Kale Karbashian's goal three minutes later tied the game at 2 heading into the third period.

That's when Coffman rushed Rapid City. Coffman scored his 6th goal of the season at 2:37, then Peter Sivak scored his first goal of his second go-round with Alaska before Coffman struck again at 16:41 for the final 5-2 margin.

The Aces outshot Rapid City 45-21 for the game.

Alaska goaltender Troy Redmann made 19 saves for his 5th win of the season. Rush goalie Danny Battochio had 40 saves.

The Aces and Rush play again Saturday and Sunday at the Sullivan Arena.
