(WEST VALLEY CITY, UT) - The Colorado Eagles picked up two goals from forward Trent Daavettila, but

allowed three Utah power-play goals to fall to the Grizzlies 6-3on Saturday night at the Maverik Center.

Utah jumped out to an early lead, as forward T.J. Syner found himself alone between the circles on the powerplay and backhanded a shot past Eagles goalie Peter Di Salvo to make it 1-0 Utah, just 4:54 into the first period.

Less than six minutes later, forward Ryan Walters tracked down a puck that had popped in and out of the glove of DiSalvo and tapped it home to extend the Grizzlies lead to 2-0.

Colorado would find their first goal of the night at the 11:58 mark of the first as Kyle Ostrow took a pass from defenseman Jake Marto on a two-on-one rush, lacing a shot past goaltender Ryan Faragher to trim Utah's advantage to 2-1.

Just over four minutes after Ostrow's goal, Eagles forward Trent Daavettila tied the game at 2-2 after he took a pass from the boards from defenseman Collin Bowman and beat Faragher from the high slot.

Utah went on their third powerplay of the night late in the first period and forward Roberts Lipsbergs would deflect a shot from the point into the net to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 lead after twenty minutes of play.

The Grizzlies would notch their third goal on the powerplay, as forward Alex Krushelnyski scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season on the man-advantage, slamming home a one-timer from the wide side post. Utah would take that 4-2 lead into the 2nd intermission.

Utah forward Brent Gwidt would give the Grizzlies a 5-3 advantage after driving home a rebound from the crease with just over nine minutes remaining in the third period.

Colorado would pull within two after Daavettila beat Faragher on a shorthanded breakaway to make it 5-3 Utah with 4:51 left in regulation.

The Eagles would pull Di Salvo in favor of the extra attacker, but Utah forward Barry Almeida would fire the puck from center ice into the empty net to give the Grizzlies the 6-3 victory.

Colorado returns to action on Saturday, December 26th when they host their division rival, the Rapid City Rush at the Budweiser Events Center.
