Monarchs "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer"

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, and their charitable arm, the Monarchs Care Foundation announced on Monday that the team has partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Breast Cancer Center at Catholic Medical Center to recognize the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign when the Monarchs host the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday, November 9 at 7:05 p.m.

The ACS held a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 14. All walkers have been invited to the Monarchs game on November 9 and the team will recognize the top Pace Setters who raised $2,000 or more for the ACS for the walk.

On November 9, Monarchs players will wear pink jersey ties throughout the game and the coaching staff will be in pink attire. Four team autographed pink-taped sticks will also be raffled off during the Monarchs game with proceeds going to the ACS. In addition, the first 5,000 fans to the game will receive pink ribbons courtesy of the ACS.

The Monarchs are offering special ticket packages for the game on November 9. Each package includes a game ticket and a pink specialty puck courtesy of Breast Cancer Center at Catholic Medical Center and $6 from each package sold will be donated to the ACS. It is vital that women are made aware of the importance of receiving annual check-ups."

"As leaders in digital mammography since 2005, the Breast Care Center at Catholic Medical Center is proud to partner with the Manchester Monarchs in raising awareness about the need for women to receive their annual mammogram. Annual screening is a proven way to detect cancer growth early and starting appropriate treatment," said Janet Maher, RN, Breast Health Specialist and Program Manager.

"The American Cancer Society is thrilled to be joining the Manchester Monarchs for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Night," said Brigit Ryan of the American Cancer Society. "It will be a fun-filled evening that combines breast cancer awareness, pink pucks, and great hockey action."
